Last updated on February 26, 2020

A mix of tips and tricks for getting the most out of the OneDrive app in Windows 10. You might like it or not, but it is one of the top cloud storage providers and comes free, integrated with the system, so why not use it. Free means 5GB, which isn’t much – but don’t look a gift horse in the mouth. If you want to pay for more, here are the plans they offer.

OneDrive app folders in Windows 10 Explorer

Didn’t drink anything and you’re seeing multiple OneDrive folders in Windows 10 Explorer? There’s an easy fix for that, in the registry. Go to:

HKCU\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Desktop\NameSpace

and delete any key with the name you don’t want to see. If you don’t know what’s registry and how to work it, you’re welcome to read this post – it should be more than enough.

Local or cloud storage – OneDrive space management

Want to save space on your local storage and keep files only in the cloud? Go to OneDrive app settings and in Files On Demand section activate the option:

“Save space and download files as you use them”

Now in Explorer you can right-click files/folders and mark them as “Always keep on this device” (local storage) or “Free up space” (cloud).
